We are pleased to announce that Hamza Bencherif has today penned a one-year contract with the Club.
Bencherif, who played a dozen times for the Imps in the 2007/08 season whilst on loan from Nottingham Forest, has spent the past few weeks back at Sincil Bank and has featured in the majority of the pre-season fixtures.
The big centre-back, who can also operate in midfield, was most recently plying his trade in Algeria with JS Kabylie before returning to England in the summer.
A former Forest youngster having joined the City Ground side from EA Guingamp in France, Bencherif was later a first team regular during two years at Macclesfield Town before making 31 appearances for Notts County.
He penned a short-term deal with Plymouth Argyle in September 2013 before being released four months and 12 appearances later.
The former Algerian U20 international has been handed the number 5 squad shirt and will officially become a City player when international clearance is granted.
