Cup tie heads for replay...

Paul Farman returned in goal whilst Jon Nolan and Nick Wright were both back in the starting line-up for this FA Cup with Budweiser First Round Proper tie against Plymouth Argyle at Gelder Group Sincil Bank Stadium.

A bright sunny afternoon greeted the two teams as they were led out of the tunnel by referee Scott Duncan and once the pre-match formalities, including an impeccable minute's silence to mark Remembrance Day, play got underway with the Imps kicking off.

It was a lively start to the game with Nat Brown charging down a Luke Young shot whilst at the other end Nolan scuffed a drive wide as the Imps pressed for the first time.

In the fifth minute Sean Newton was forced to concede a corner which ended up with another flag-kick to the visitors which was cleared for a throw-in by Wright. The Imps' response saw Newton do well to win a corner.

Another corner quickly followed to make it two apiece on that front but it remained goalless as Plymouth cleared. A block on Ben Tomlinson saw the Imps win a free-kick 30 yards out but Marlon Jackson curled well over.

On the quarter hour mark Nolan cleared a dangerous Lewis Alessandra cross before Reuben Reid drilled a low shot well wide from Argyle's next foray forward.

City's response saw some neat build-up play end with Jackson going to ground in the box but referee Duncan was well positioned and let play carry on before the striker was flagged offside.

An evenly-matched opening half continued with clear-cut chances at a premium, although when Wright got the better of his man he was denied by a fine save from Argyle 'keeper Jake Cole. Good skill from Newton then saw him skip past a couple of challenges before drilling just over.

In the last minute of the half good work from Wright saw him draw a foul out of Neal Trotman with Newton's free-kick leading to a corner which ended up with two Argyle players, including keeper Cole, requiring treatment as the bodies flew in.

Plymouth restarted with the teams emerging unchanged with the first incident following the break being in the shape of a yellow card to Reid with referee Duncan spotting something untoward on the half-way line.

With heavy rain starting to fall Wright advanced before blazing over rather than playing in Tomlinson on his right before the striker was denied by Cole after he powered in a header from a Newton cross.

In the 58th minute Tope Obadeyi for Romuald Boco was the game's first change and the substitute was quickly in the action, being tripped by Power who earned a caution for his misdemeanour. Farman claimed the low free-kick at the second attempt.

Farman got in another save to deny Alessandra who was sent flying by Miller who joined Power in the book for his mistimed slide. The Booking was Miller's fifth of the season with a suspension heading his way.

Jake Sheridan for Marlon Jackson was the Imps' first change as the clock ticked into its 71st minute whilst five minutes later Mo Fofana came on for Jon Nolan before the Imps dealt with a corner.

Bohan Dixon replaced Nick Wright as the visitors won another corner in the 79th minute and although this was cleared it wasn't long before Argyle were pushing forward again, winning more corners as they pushed for a late breakthrough.

In the final minute Conor Hourihane left a leg in on Brown with a caution coming his way. Three additional minutes was then indicated by the Fourth Official and these passed without further incident with the goalless draw meaning a replay at Home Park will decide the victors.
