We have failed in our bid to have Adam Smith's red card against Grimsby Town on New Year's Day overturned.
After viewing video footage of the incident that led Smith's sending off, we lodged an appeal to the Football Association but confirmation was received this afternoon (Thursday) that the panel had supported referee Karl Evans' decision to dismiss the winger following his stoppage time challenge on Bradley Wood.
As such, Smith will serve a three-match ban, ruling him out of the away games at Ebbsfleet United and Southport plus the home match against Newport County AFC.
