Winning Start For U18s

Rob Smith goal earns youth team opening day victory...

Following a good pre-season, the Lincoln Youth team started the season with an away fixture at Rotherham United.

The game started and it was even without much incident but as the half developed two long range efforts from Kegan Everington and Matt Cotton went just wide.

Lincoln opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Alex Simmons released Rob Smith, one on one, who finished with his left foot. The first half finished with Lincoln edging it.

In the second half Lincoln's back four coped comfortably with any threats Rotherham produced, with keeper Henry Smith making one smart save down to his left.

In the last third of the match Lincoln dominated, creating several chances and hitting the woodwork twice through Jordan Harper and Alex Simmons.

In the last few minutes of the game Rotherham had a late chance to level, but fortunately for Lincoln it went over the bar and City's defensive unit kept a well earned clean sheet.

A great start to the season for the Imps with Doncaster at home next Saturday.
