Should the U18s defeat Hartlepool United in the second round of the FA Youth Cup then their reward will be a home tie against Huddersfield Town.
The City youngsters take on Hartlepool later this month (date TBC) at The 12th Imp Sincil Bank Stadium having overcome Notts County 3-2 in their first round tie and will be looking to extend their run in the competition to the third round stage for only the fourth time in the Club's history.
The most recent experience of FA Youth Cup third round action came in 2008 and a 2-1 extra-time defeat at Birmingham City with the previous two occasions coming in the late 1970s. In 1978/79 Nottingham Forest's youngsters defeated City 2-1 and the following season Manchester City, who had the likes of Tommy Caton and new £250,000 signing Steve MacKenzie in their squad, won 4-2 as they marched towards a place in the final.
