City's U18 head coach Sam Tillen is hoping to see even more progress on the work his team have undertaken in training when they return to action.
The Imps play host to Burton Albion in the Youth Alliance League on Friday, and City enter the match against the Brewers following a 2-0 loss at Doncaster Rovers last weekend.
Tillen said: "It was really encouraging to see the boys really trying to execute the build up play and intensity we have been working on, and hopefully we can take those positive processes and turn them into a positive outcome against Burton."
Speaking further about last week's match against Rovers, he continued: "The performance as a whole was very positive. However, we were unfortunately undone by two individual errors at the end of each half.
"We had a lot of possession and forced Doncaster into defending their penalty area for long periods in the second half, but we lacked the guile and creativity to make our territorial advantage count."
The fixture will be played at Bottesford Town’s Barrett Steel Stadium (Ontario Rd, Scunthorpe DN17 2TQ) with free entry for supporters.
As part of City's long-term partnership with the North Lincolnshire non-league football club, all U18 home fixtures during the months of January and February will be played at the Poachers’ home stadium.
