Sam Tillen was pleased with City U18’s dominant win over Burton Albion on Friday.
Zane Okoro and Bola Okewoye both scored two, while Jersey Lopez also got on the scoresheet for the Imps in the victory.
Tillen said: “It was a very positive display against a good Burton Albion side. We showed a real intensity and desire to work hard, be brave on the ball and that allowed the boys to flourish.
“We started very brightly and grabbed two goals. We allowed Burton back into the game after an individual error, which hopefully, going forward we can eradicate, but reacted well and within minutes restored our two goal advantage before half time.”
Tillen was delighted with the second half performance from his side. The young Imps scored two goals early in the half and showed a ruthless edge to wrap up the victory.
Resharne McLean returned after a period on the sidelines with injury. Tillen expressed his delight at having he and Carter Ford back, and commended their positive attitudes during their time out.
He added: “The players responded well to the message at the break, which was to be on the front foot and be more ruthless. We managed to put the game to bed at the start of the second half with two great goals.
“There were two other highlights alongside the positive performance with Resharne McLean returning after four months out. Carter Ford also returned and their attitude, determination and professionalism has set an outstanding benchmark for the group in a very difficult period.”
