City’s U18 head coach Sam Tillen says his side must maintain the high standards they have set over recent performances.
The young Imps were dominant in their 5-0 win against Hartlepool United on Friday, and Tillen is eager the squad remain consistent.
He said: “I thought we played very well on the back of three good performances. It’s really positive the lads are getting the results their work rate has earned.
“Everyone did their jobs, I was pleased with their intensity so hopefully we can go on and maintain this now because we have to be consistent with our standards.”
A Russell Berko brace as well as goals from Julian Donnery, Kelly Fombad and Denny Oliver secured the win for the young Imps, but Tillen was also pleased with the defensive unit that earned the clean sheet.
He added: “I think the clean sheet was the last piece of the puzzle. When we were winning, I wanted to make sure we didn’t concede because the lads deserved that.
“We defended well and always looked threatening, especially on the counter attack. We spoke about being more clinical at half-time and we came out and were able to put the game to bed.”
