Sam Tillen was delighted with his team’s performance as City U18 won 3-0 at local rivals Grimsby Town on Friday.
Goals from Carter Ford, Jersey Lopez and Bola Okewoye wrapped up a third straight victory for the young Imps.
Tillen said: “We started the game well and with our high intensity and quality on the ball managed to gain an advantageous foothold in the game.
“We could have been more than two goals up at half-time and we managed to secure the result with the third in the second half. Overall, it was a very pleasing team performance.”
Tillen was also happy to record a second consecutive clean sheet, having set his side the challenge of recording more shut-outs.
He added: “We attacked well, but we also defended as a team very well.
“Gaining consecutive clean sheets was really pleasing, and an objective for us as a side.”
