Ash Foyle felt his young U18 side set themselves the standards to match for the rest of the season after battling to a draw at Grimsby Town on Saturday.
A great solo goal from Harry Dale secured a point for the Imps, after the Mariners had reversed Bailey Adamson’s early strike to take a 2-1 lead.
Foyle said: “We showed excellent character to come back and I was particularly pleased given the make up of the team only containing two second year scholars.
“We had two U15s playing the full game and two U16 trialists, with the rest being U16s and U17s. Grimsby had U19 players in their team so the challenge level was huge physically, but the lads applied themselves well.
“The challenge now is for this level of performance to become a consistent part of our make up and hold each other accountable to ensure we are driving standards every day.”
