Sutton Coldfield Town 3 Imps 1

City fell to 3-1 defeat on the road against Sutton Coldfield Town.

Early on, Leah Hardy took a free kick from distance, but it was straight at Neve Jones.

Straight down the other end of the pitch, Ella Thompson-Moulding was shown a yellow card for fouling Olivia Woolston just outside the box. Chloe Handy stepped up to take it and it was headed in before being ruled offside.

Toni McHamilton sent Lucy Farrow one on one with the keeper but, running far out her goal, Jones once again stopped the Imps in their tracks.

Lana Timson in the Lincoln goal made a strong save following pressure from Lauren D’Casto but Woolston scored from the rebound.

Play was end to end after the opening goal but the next real test was from the hosts with Woolston picking up the ball just outside the box, but Timson made a great save.

They continued to press and Woolston set up Brittany Civil for the second goal of the game with a short, sharp cross into the box.

Redemption came just before half time as a shot from McHamilton met Farrow, who calmly bobbled it past the ‘keeper.

Almost immediately after kicking off again, Green took a long range shot that hit the post and bounced to Footitt but the keeper was able to collect her attempt.

Timson made another crucial save shortly after before strong defending was needed following a corner. The Imps had a couple more attempts on goal before the half time whistle, but the teams saw out the half.

The second half saw Tilly Fantom and Cassie Steward replace Footitt and Green and the Imps got off to a quick start.

McHamilton had a strong attempt from the half-volley but sent the ball slightly wide.

Woolston scored her second goal of the game with a looping shot from 30 yards out.

The Imps were quick to retaliate as McHamilton sent a shot just over the bar. Steward had a powerful shot from distance, but Jones saved.

Alice Wood came on for her debut in the second half with Brogan Pugh replacing an injured Cassie Steward in the final ten minutes.

It was Sutton that had the edge as the game came to a close despite a few attempts from the Imps. They saw the game out at 3-1.
