City Women came from behind twice to ensure that they took a share of the spoils at Moorlands against Leafield Athletic.
The first chance of the game fell the way of Maddi Green, after six minutes. A lovely dummy from Toni McHamilton following a cross, allowed Green to have time and space to get her shot away from inside the box, but it was palmed away by visiting goalkeeper Colette Bell.
From the resulting corner, a near post flick on from Leah Hardy caused chaos in the Leafield box, and the ball was cleared off the line.
Hardy herself was next to have an effort on goal, but her strike from more than 20 yards was over the crossbar.
Leafield had an effort smack off the crossbar after 15 minutes, with Neive Fallon striking the woodwork with a powerful shot.
The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes, when Kathryn Pagan timed her half-volleyed effort well, and fired home a strike from the edge of the box into the top right corner.
Imps' goalkeeper Timson was forced into action four minutes later, as she denied a Grace Godwin effort, diving high to her right, to avoid conceding a second.
The Imps equalised in the 28th minute, as striker Toni McHamilton capitalised on an under-hit back pass from Leafield’s Sarah Hazell, before confidently rolling the ball into the back of the net.
The visitors went close again when a cross to the back post found the head of striker Neive Fallon, but she directed her header safely wide of Timson’s net.
Lee Mitchell was forced into making City’s first change of the game as Sinead Fletcher had to be withdrawn from the game with an injury before half-time. She was replaced by Tilly Fantom.
Hardy forced a great stop from Leafield keeper Bell, with a chipped one-on-one effort, after a perfectly weighted pass from Lucy Farrow, meaning the teams went into the half-time break on level terms.
Melissa Riley, who was making her league debut for the Imps, was first to have a shot on goal in the second half, but her effort was comfortable for Bell in the Leafield goal.
Toni McHamilton went close to grabbing her second just before the hour mark. After a nicely weighted pass from Hardy, her lobbed effort flew just wide, as the Imps looked to pile on the pressure.
Leafield took the lead for the second time in the 71st minute, as Pagan collected her second, finishing well into the top left corner, after some nice passing in the midfield.
An excellent save from Timson denied Fallon moments later, as the Leafield striker’s effort was powerful and high, but a fingertip touch from the City goalkeeper pushed the ball over the bar.
The Imps found their second goal of the game with 10 minutes to go. A powerful Leah Hardy free-kick on the edge of the box stayed low and on target, before nestling into the bottom left corner, with the girls running back to half-way; eager to try and find a winner.
A brilliant save from Timson diverted Hazell’s shot onto the outside of the far post, with a fingertip, diving low and quickly to her right-hand side, to keep the scores level.
Lucy Farrow had a brilliant one-on-one strike saved by Bell with only a couple of minutes to go, with the Leafield keeper coming out fast and making herself big to deny the City attacker.
Another Hardy free kick from a similar position was saved and held by Bell, as the game crept into stoppage time in wet conditions.
The City defence held out strong, and the side finished strongly to ensure their point was deserved.
