Sam Tillen was pleased with aspects of his side's first half defeat against Walsall despite falling to a 3-0 defeat in their first game on the road.
The Imps created the better opportunities in the opening period and were unfortunate to not be ahead before the Saddlers took the game away from them with three unanswered goals in the second period.
Despite being on the wrong side of the scoreline, Tillen was still encouraged with what he saw.
He said: “We started very positively and seemed to be in the ascendency at half time. We had some good chances and looked a real threat, particularly through Timi Bada and Freddie Wilson on the left-hand side.
“It felt like the way into the game for Walsall would be through any mistakes that we made.”
Whilst praising his side's display in the first half, Tillen also called upon his team to learn from the second half setback.
He added: “I was disappointed with the reaction of the team after the first goal, it felt like it changed the course of the game and from there Walsall scored two further goals which were carbon copies of each other.
“We need to learn from this and look to see who the leaders are who can try and get the team together and turn momentum around in games as we have allowed the match to get away from us when in the ascendency in our last two fixtures.”
