City defender Ryley Towler praised the Imps’ resilience after they battled back to claim a deserved share of the spoils against Huddersfield Town on New Year's Day.
The Imps came into the contest off the back of five straight home victories at the LNER Stadium, but despite a dominant first half display, they found themselves behind after an hour when Leo Castledine scored.
City showed fantastic resilience to bounce back quickly through Adam Reach and claim a result which stretched their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to seven matches.
Towler said: “I thought the boys were outstanding in the first half and played some really good football, I don’t think they could live with us at times.
“On another day, we could have been 3-0 up with the chances we created, it was an excellent performance in the first half.
“We then had the blow in the second half when they scored, but we showed great resilience again to fight back and equalise so quickly.
“You can’t do much more than what we did in the first half and as I’ve said, on another day we’d have won it.”
Attentions now turn to another home clash against Peterborough United on Sunday 4 January (12noon KO) and Towler believes the team are in a good place heading into the match.
Towler added: “I think the fact we came back again shows the experience and the character that we have in the group.
“We know that we’ve got a good enough team to get back into it when things aren’t going our way and we’ve done that again.
“We’re in a really good place, but we have to keep at it and look ahead to Peterborough on Sunday.”
