The Imps fell to a 2-0 defeat to Blackpool on Tuesday night.
City head coach Michael Skubala named an unchanged XI from the side that beat Peterborough United 5-1 on Saturday.
Imps goalkeeper Zach Jeacock was called upon within a minute, parrying Sonny Carey's low strike from distance clear, as the Tangerines started on the front foot.
Blackpool's Ashley Fletcher was next to go close for the visitors, as he was picked out by a teasing Tom Bloxham cross. Fletcher's header was back across Jeacock's goal, but just the wrong side of the post for Steve Bruce's side.
Freddie Draper forced visiting goalkeeper Harry Tyrer into action for the first time on 16 minutes, as his effort from a tight angle needed to be dealt with low to the goalkeeper's right.
Tom Bayliss dragged an effort wide from 20 yards out after a smart turn from the midfielder allowed for him to have the room to get the shot away on the half hour mark.
Blackpool took the lead on 32 minutes, as Ashley Fletcher took advantage of a defensive error to calmly chip the ball over the top of the on-rushing Jeacock to put the visitors ahead.
City looked to respond instantly, after a perfectly weighted cross from Bayliss found Darikwa at the back post. Darikwa met the ball with a half-volley before an important block from Husband deflected the ball wide for a corner.
Draper had a golden chance to level the game on 38 minutes as he was picked out by a low Sean Roughan cross 12 yards from goal, but the striker miss hit his effort.
City were forced into a change earlier than expected when Ben House went down in the penalty area five minutes before the break. January signing James Collins was introduced in his place.
Sean Roughan had an effort dragged wide on the stroke of half time as City continue to push for a way to get back level before the break.
Michael Skubala's side started the second half brightly with James Collins having a flicked header inside the box, held comfortably by Tyrer.
Blackpool doubled their advantage on 57 minutes, when the ball fell kindly to Olly Casey who made no mistake from inside the penalty area.
City looked to respond on the hour mark when Tom Bayliss saw his powerful effort blocked from a sliding Casey and out for a corner.
CJ Hamilton was picked out at the back post on 62 minutes and thought he had put his volley into the top corner from close range, but was denied by a fingertip Jeacock save.
On 73 minutes, Freddie Draper found Collins with a flicked header inside the box, but the new Imp couldn't keep his shot down as City kept pushing for a route back into the game.
Collins went close three minutes later as he was the one to rise highest, ahead of goalkeeper Tyrer before heading his effort wide of the far post.
At the third time of asking, Collins thought he had got his goal, but was to be denied by the assistant's flag for an offside from a Reeco Hackett cross on 78 minutes. Seconds earlier Collins had been denied in the box by a strong hand from Tyrer before the ball found Hackett.
City kept the pressure on but couldn't find a way back into the game.
