Michael Skubala was pleased his side showed their clinical nature in the 5-1 demolition of Barnsley.
The South Yorkshire side are chasing automatic promotion, but the Imps controlled large periods of the game after taking a 15th minute lead through Joe Taylor.
Skubala said: “We started the game really bright and we knew we had to stop them from the front as we couldn’t come and dominate the ball - we knew we had to catch them in transition and I think that worked.
“All the goals were great finishes. We took our chances to really show our quality in the final third and in the second half we were bang on.
“What a support we had - these guys have travelled to watch these guys and be a part of it. They wanted to see energy and we gave them that”
Jack Moylan caught the eye with two impressive strikes after his half-time introduction which helped City see the game out.
Danny Mandroiu and Jovon Makama also got on the scoresheet.
Skubala added: “Jack was perhaps frustrated because he didn’t start but that’s what the group has got - everyone wants to be a part of this team.
“We know he has the ability to be really good out of possession, and what pleased me was how connected we were without the ball. We were aggressive when we needed to be and in the end our intensity and energy was a little too much for them.”
