Ethan Erhahon is looking forward to the final home game under the lights this season, as Cambridge United arrive at the LNER Stadium on Tuesday night.
City enter the match against the U’s seeking to extend their run of 11 games unbeaten, and building on the resounding 5-1 away success at Barnsley.
Erhahon said: “It’s up to us to bring the same intensity we brought to Barnsley away. It’s up to the leaders in our group to drive that mentality. We’ll aim to take the game to Cambridge from minute one.
“We’ve got nine games left and are taking each one as it comes. The recent run has brought confidence in the changing room though, and we’re looking forward to every game.
“I like Tuesday under the lights – especially at home as it’s a great atmosphere. We’re hoping to have the place bouncing.”
Reflecting further on the weekend, the 22-year-old continued: “I’m pretty sure if you’re painting an away day, that’s how you want it to look. Five really good goals, while we’re annoyed that we conceded one ourselves. However, that’s football and we’ll take a 5-1 win away to a very good team.
“It was a great atmosphere with 2,000 of our fans making so much noise, and you could see how much it meant to them.”
Erhahon has enjoyed his first full season in English football, having played 42 matches in all competitions so far.
Despite his relatively young age, he’s seen as one of the older heads in the team and the ex-St Mirren man added: “I’ve played around 180 games and always naturally been a ‘6’, so I’m used to the role. It’s an important part of the team and I’m sure the lads appreciate the job I do for them. Everyone that we have brings something different.
“When called upon, I’m happy to be a leader on the pitch and off the pitch – whatever it takes to help the lads.”
