Joe Taylor has revealed that Lincoln City legend Mick Harford played a huge role in his decision to join the Imps in the January transfer window.
Harford made 115 appearances, scoring 41 goals for the Imps at the start of a playing career which spanned 21 years, and Taylor spoke highly of his relationship with the now chief recruitment officer at Luton Town.
Taylor said: “I’ve had conversations with Mick Harford, I’ve had conversations with Michael Skubala, about how me coming here would be a massive opportunity to develop my game.
“Mick is my mentor at Luton and we had some good conversations about this football club. He said it’s obviously a place I can go and score goals, and he spoke very highly of the club.”
Taylor feels he is ready for the step up to League One having spent the first half of the season on loan at League Two Colchester United.
He added: “I’m really happy to get the deal over the line, I’m glad I’m in the door. I trained on Tuesday and Thursday and it seems to all be coming together now.
“As a footballer you always want to play at the top, and for me to make the next step into League One was something I couldn’t really turn down.”
