Lincoln City and Lincoln City Foundation are extending their Attendance4Attendance offer to secondary schools after launching their primary school scheme last month.
This initiative aims to reward students who achieve a good level of attendance with tickets to Lincoln City’s first team matches.
The Foundation spoke to three secondary school leads about how their institutions will benefit from the Attendance4Attendance programme.
Mr Wray, deputy headteacher at Priory Witham Academy, said: “One of the biggest ways we’re going to take advantage of the scheme is to drive forward aspirations for our children, and engage them in the local community outside of their area.
“We’re in quite a closed community at the moment, so it’s nice for them to experience different things and engage in things within Lincoln.”
Mr Dinnie, assistant headteacher at Priory Academy LSST commented: “This scheme will help to provide that additional incentive to children particularly of more vulnerable groups to come into school.”
Fixtures that are eligible for Attendance4Attendance will be dotted around half-term dates so attendance awards can be handed out at the end of each academic term.
A4A gold memberships will also be provided to schools who join the programme to allow them to reward good behaviour or other reward-based initiatives.
Headteacher at Priory City of Lincoln Academy, Mr Whitaker, is keen to reward students who already have good attendance levels with the initiative.
He said: “We very much see the scheme being used for students who already have a positive attendance, because I think it’s really important to recognise when someone is doing something well.
“That can be overlooked at times, but equally we know we have groups of students who have challenges coming into school, so we want to overcome barriers and encourage children to come to school.”
In order to sign up to be an attendance partner school please email a4a@theredimps.com with your school's name and a contact number, and a member of our A4A team will be in touch.
