Paudie O’Connor wants to build on a successful first year in Sky Bet League One after picking up the Player of the Year award.
The central defender featured in all but two of City’s league fixtures throughout the season and believes he has laid the foundations to kick on for 2023/24.
Paudie said: "I wanted to test myself against the better-quality players at this level, it has gone well and coincided with the team playing well which is a massive positive for the club.
"I was bought in to help the lads keep as many clean sheets as possible and we’ve managed to achieve that over the course of the season.
"In terms of next year, I want to build on that by keeping myself in the team and hopefully we can push on with some new additions in the summer."
The Irishman was also keen to thank the supporters whose votes earned him the award.
He added: "It means a lot coming from the supporters who have had a lot of travelling to do this season.
"They have been in unbelievable numbers all season so I’d just like to thank them very much and to be recognised for that is a nice touch.
"For me it was about getting settled as quickly as possible and performing as well as I could. I wanted to establish myself amongst the squad because when I came here, there were a lot of good players, especially at centre half."
