City stormed to victory in the first home league match of the season thanks to second-half goals from Reeco Hackett, Ted Bishop and Danny Mandroiu.
The Imps got the game underway but the first chance of the game came for Wycombe. The hosts found themselves three on one from close range but some excellent last ditch defending from City kept the score level.
Another chance for Wycombe came early, but Lukas Jensen easily caught a header from Luke Leahy following a well delivered set-piece.
Chances were limited for both teams in the opening 20 minutes, but City were growing into the game and starting to see more of the ball.
Lasse Sorensen had City’s first chance of note following a Jaden Brown cross from the left side, but the Dane couldn’t keep his effort down.
The scores were level at the break, but City looked the more likely to go ahead towards the end of the half, posing a bigger attacking threat than the visitors.
The first effort of the second period came from Brown, but Max Stryjek was able to keep hold of the wing-back’s low drive from long range.
A spell of possession for City with some neat play eventually found Mandroiu, who fired over the bar from 25 yards.
Mandroiu was at the heart of City’s attacking play once again, and found Hackett on the right wing, but the latter could only fire his shot into Stryjek’s gloves.
The Imps were on top and searching for an opener, a teasing ball into the box from Sorensen found Brown, but the summer arrival couldn’t keep his free header down.
City found their opener in the 67th minute. Mandroiu put a pinpoint cross into the area, which was turned home by Hackett from close range to net his first goal for the Imps.
It wasn’t long until Mark Kennedy's side found their second of the game, Mandroiu was once again causing problems for City and his cross was smashed home by substitute Ted Bishop at the near post.
The visitors nearly got a goal back but an outstanding defensive header from Walker kept the ball out of the net.
City ensured it would be a successful return to the LNER Stadium with a third, with Mandroiu finishing low into the bottom left corner for his first goal of the season after he was picked out by Bishop on the right-wing.
