Joe Walsh insists that his progress continues as he aims to return to full fitness.

Walsh made his first league appearance since April when he came off the bench at Cambridge United, with the defender emphasizing that he needs to take each game as it comes.

He said: “I just want to make sure I stay fit now and get back into the team. It has obviously been very frustrating for me because there is nothing worse than missing out through injury.

“I just want to take it game by game and get on with it. There are a few things to get used to but it is about getting a run of games together and making it click.”

The Imps were unable to overturn the two-goal deficit at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday and Walsh is keen for the squad to respond in next weekend’s match.

He added: “When they were 2-0 up, they sat back which made it harder for us. Unfortunately we did not get back in it and we now have to put that right next weekend.”
