CGI, one of the largest IT and business consulting services in the world, has backed Lincoln City Foundation in its newest event.
CGI is an Elite Partner of the Foundation’s Half Marathon event that takes place on Sunday September 18. CGI employs more than 6,000 people in the UK, with a focus on partnering with clients to deliver projects which have a positive impact on the lives of citizens, including in healthcare, education and sustainability.
Lincoln City Foundation, the charitable arm of Lincoln City Football Club, based at the club’s LNER Stadium, exists to inspire, empower, and help individuals and communities improve their physical, social, and mental wellbeing.
Donna Kelly, senior vice president for CGI in the South and Midlands, said: “We were really impressed by the impact Lincoln City Foundation has in our local community. For us, sponsoring this inaugural, inclusive event--which brings benefits to both mental and physical health--seemed a great way for us to engage. As an organisation we are committed to supporting the communities in which our people live and work.
“We felt the Foundation strongly matched the principles we focus upon when investing in our community activities and are looking forward to seeing the impact made by everyone taking part, including CGI employees."
Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at Lincoln City Foundation, added: "We are very grateful to CGI for its enthusiastic support which is helping us stage the Lincoln City Half Marathon for the first time.”
"We're now at a point where the majority of training is completed for our runners, and we're seeing tremendous interest from local residents and the wider running community alike. We cannot wait to put on this event for the first time in our iconic city."
The city-centre focussed route highlights beautiful green spaces, recognised landmarks, riverside culture and gives the opportunity to explore local residential streets.
