City's promising young forward Jovon Makama has committed his long-term future to the club after signing a new contract at LNER Stadium.
The 18-year-old signed his first professional deal with the Imps in May 2021 before joining Northern Premier League side Gainsborough Trinity on a season-long loan in August 2021.
Jovon explained how he is already looking forward to the new campaign as he continues to develop with the Imps first team.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal; I feel like the hard work over the last 12 months has paid off,” said Makama.
“I just want to push on and start the new season. The standard the first team sets is very high, so being in that group every day with some experienced players only helps you to push yourself to the maximum.
“I’m already looking forward to getting back into training over the summer with the squad.”
Director of Football, Jez George added: “Jovon has progressed really well over the last 12 months, especially during his time out on loan with Gainsborough Trinity.
“He has experienced the demands and physical challenges of competing in men’s football and can take that into next season.
“This contract shows our belief in Jovon, his potential and his long-term development. We look forward to seeing what that looks like in the short term when he returns for pre-season.
“We now have eight young home-grown players on professional contracts. This is an exciting time for the football club, and it goes to show to all of the players in our Academy that there are opportunities for those with the right level of ability, physical attributes and mentality.”
