City headed to the top of Northern Group E with a controlled victory over Barnsley, thanks to a double from Ted Bishop and Jovon Makama's first competitive goal for the Imps.
Bishop's two strikes meant he has now hit four goals in as many days, having notched twice against Fleetwood Town on Saturday, while Makama came off the bench for a moment he will never forget.
The 3-0 victory maintained the Imps' impressive start to the season in cup competitions, with a 100% record from all three cup outings so far this term - all of which have come on the road.
