Imps boss Danny Cowley has praised supporters heading to Yeovil Town tonight, as he calls for his side to back up Saturday's Lincolnshire Derby victory.
City beat Grimsby Town 1-0 at Sincil Bank on Saturday, and make the 480-mile round trip to Yeovil Town tonight following the postponement on the fixture due to international call-ups in November.
A couple of hundred Imps fans are expected in Yeovil tonight, who have won back-to-back league matches, and Danny has reiterated how important their support will be.
“I will be shaking every one of the 200 supporters' hands, they are massive, the fact we are taking 200 fans to Yeovil is incredible," Danny said.
“Anyone who can find the time off work and give up all the hours of travelling as well as the game, we really appreciate it. We want as many people to go to Bury on Saturday as well, we know it is on Sky which is brilliant but we won’t hear the fans through the television set.”
Yeovil have improved their form in recent weeks with two consecutive wins. Cowley discussed Darren Way’s side saying: “It will be tough, they have had two really good performances recently against Notts County and Mansfield, they were really good in the Mansfield game and deserved to be 1-0 winners.
“A cold Tuesday night away to Yeovil, that’s where you win titles. We had a great result on Saturday, we are delighted with the performance and the outcome, we need to back it up with a real performance.
“Yeovil have really good players and it would be really hard to go there at any time, let alone on a Tuesday night in January. It wouldn’t be easy for Manchester City at Yeovil and it won’t be for Lincoln City.
“We need everyone to turn up, all 18 players and be ready to play at their best, that is what you have to do if you want to win away.
“Yeovil have had some really good results this year, we have to make sure we match them in all areas. We will make sure we have a defence behind our attack because they carry a real threat on the counter.”
The Imps boss has seen his side pick up eight points from their last four games. City picked up three of those against local rivals Grimsby Town last Saturday thanks to Harry Toffolo’s early strike.
“We targeted the Swindon and Grimsby game to get four points and we have managed to take those four points. It wasn’t easy but we did it and now we have Yeovil and Bury. If we can do the same again then we will be very pleased,” explained the 40-year-old.
“It is really tough, if we can take four points then we will be in a really good place going into February. What we are trying to achieve isn’t about 11 footballer at as, it is about a club and a city and we will keep our foot on the gas to keep going.”
Imps fans can pay on the turnstiles tonight at Yeovil Town at a £3 increase on the advanced-purchase prices.
