Danny Cowley says that today's clash against Joey Barton's Fleetwood Town will challenge his side mentally following the midweek test against Everton.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire in his pre-match interview, Danny highlighted numerous challenges ahead of today's clash, and the Imps boss was keen to ensure that the levels of intesity is the same to that from Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie with Everton.

"What we have to do today is make sure they we are mentally in the right place. That’s today’s biggest challenge," Danny added.

"After the amount of emotion we expended on Wednesday, in what was a fantastic game, we have to now collectively make sure that we find the same intensity that we found against Everton."

City made one change to the starting line-up that was defeated at Doncaster Rovers last weekend, with Callum Connolly coming in for Michael O'Connor for his Lincoln City debut.

"I think today was about picking the freshest team that we could. We made changes in midweek so we could be physically fresh.

"For us, it’s always a squad effort. It’s probably the easiest team to pick as we had to pick the fresh ones."

This afternoon's Sky Bet League One fixture will be the first time the Imps and the Cod Army have locked horns for an EFL fixture, with the previous occasion seeing Jamie Vardy bag a brace at the Highbury Stadium in a 2-2 draw.

"Fleetwood are one of the best teams we’ve seen so far this season. Joey has done very well in the transfer window.

"Danny Andrews and Josh Morris down the left and the likes of Ched Evans who is very experienced and a top end Championship play-offs. Today will be very tough. If we finish in and around Fleetwood, we’ll have had a very good season."
