Ipswich Town winger Danny Rowe becomes City's first signing of the January transfer window as he joins on loan until the end of the season.

Rowe had been training at Sincil Bank over the Christmas period, but the Imps had to wait for the transfer window to re-open to register the winger with the club.

The deal will run until 31st May, 2018.

The 25-year-old joined Mick McCarthy's side in the January 2017 window after setting the National League alight for Macclesfield Town, and he's a signing that excites the Imps' boss.

"Danny Rowe is a top, top player. He’s someone we know well from his time at Macclesfield,” said Danny Cowley.

“We actually tried to bring him here when we first joined Lincoln but he had just signed a new deal with Macclesfield.

“The year we were at Braintree, he was the standout player in the National League.

“We’ve all seen what standout players in the National League can do in the Football League. The prospect of him joining us is really exciting.”

Rowe was unavailable for the game at Luton Town yesterday despite the window's re-opening, meaning his first game could be at Rochdale in the Checkatrade Trophy on January, 9th.

"Unfortunately he wasn’t available at Luton Town on New Year’s Day due to EFL registration rules," Cowley said.

"He's been training with us for the last week or so, and it’s great. He’ll be a fantastic acquisition to the group.

"He’s one of those players that will get supporters off their seats."
