On the road with Lincoln City...
For many football fans the road trip is the best thing about supporting your team. Those epic, adventurous away days when anything and everything can go wrong but a win makes it all seem right.We've all got our favourite tales of following the Mighty Imps around the country (and occasionally overseas for that once-in-a-lifetime experience: the pre-season tour). There have been good days and bad days; cup shocks for and against; great atmospheres and cold, lonely nights on the terraces when everyone else had obviously stayed at home.
Now you have the chance to see your favourite memories committed to print. The latest Youth Academy Future Imps Fundraiser is a collection of short stories entitled “You're Supposed To Be Away! On the Road with Lincoln City”.
We are looking for your stories of between 1,000 and 7,500 words which capture the magic of being on the road following Lincoln City. They can be about a particular match or the journey or trip as a whole. Did you have an unforgettable day or weekend away? Did everything that could go wrong go wrong? Serious or funny; happy or sad; victorious or humiliated; we want to hear your stories.
Any era; any competition; anything you want to tell us about!
Don't just write a match report though: we want to hear about the whole experience of following The Imps on the road. The more different and interesting the better!
If you have any photos to go with your story that would be great. They can be scanned and emailed to the address below or posted to Roger Bates, Lincoln City Youth Academy, Sincil Bank, Lincoln, LN5 8LD. Please include a postal address if you want the photos returned.
The best 20 or so stories will be included in the book. They will be chosen by our panel of judges – Ian Plenderleith, Gary Hutchinson and Alan Johnson. The authors of all the stories published will receive a complimentary copy of the book signed by the City management team of Danny and Nicky Cowley, be invited to a Lincoln City home game as VIP guests of the club and also be our guests at the launch event.
