The Club played host to a number of local volunteer groundsmen on Thursday evening as part of the FA's Pitch Improvement Programme.
The Pitch Improvement Programme is a scheme run by the FA in association with the Institute of Groundsmanship and with the Football Club being regarded as the senior club in this particular region, City groundsman Phil Kime was happy to play host to members at Sincil Bank Stadium.
The programme involves Phil and his team, together with the IOG, going out to local clubs, inspecting their pitches and giving them some advice on the way to go forward for them to improve their playing surface. This visit is also summarised up in a written report the club can use for future reference.
The FA is using the scheme to support grass roots football and the people who look after the pitches whilst it is also a vehicle for clubs to apply for grants in order to purchase equipment.
Local groundsmen were invited to Sincil Bank on Thursday where they were given talks by Tom Rowley of the IOG plus an introduction on what the Pitch Improvement Scheme is all about by Rob King of the FA.
An inspection of the Sincil Bank pitch also took place with Phil Kime then giving a talk on the Club's machinery, how they are used and his general maintenance schedule.
A total of 11 groundsmen attended with good feedback being received from all. Hopefully more regular workshops will be planned for the future.
