On Saturday 12th October 2013 Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust are launching their "Thumbs Up To Health" programme with support from Gary Simpson and Grant Brown.

The Sport & Education Trust are launching the "Thumbs Up To Health" programme across Lincoln to increase physical activity levels and health awareness in males over 35.

Their aim is to motivate and encourage participants to change their lifestyles and have the confidence to sustain activity levels post programme to achieve their long term goals.

They will be holding free exercise hubs across the city on weekday evenings - offering health screening, fitness testing, nutritional advice and support as well the exercise sessions.

The sessions at the exercise hubs will be delivered by Lauren Flint, Healthy Lifestyles Co-ordinator and Personal Trainer. They will include everything from circuit training to resistance and endurance training.  Participants will be offered regular fitness tests to measure their progress and help set goals throughout the programme.

The sessions available will start week beginning 21st October at the following venues:

• Sudbrooke Drive Community Centre - Mondays 6:30pm to 7:30pm
• North Kesteven Leisure Centre - Wednesday’s 6:00pm to 7:00pm
• Birchwood Leisure Centre - Thursday’s 7:00pm to 8:00pm

The Exercise Hubs are open to all males over 35 wanting to improve their health. Participants can book in for sessions, just turn up on the evening or can also be referred through Health Trainers.

The second part of the programme is a Supporter Health Screening Programme which will be available before the Imps' home fixtures.

This service is available to any supporter that would like to come and talk to our healthy lifestyle co-ordinator plus have access to health screening. This programme will endeavour to increase supporters’ awareness of their health and give them an informal opportunity to discuss ways of improving their health. The programme will be able to monitor blood pressure, weight, body fat and other basic tests plus highlight if you need to seek medical help or support.

Before the Aldershot match on October 12th we will be providing opportunities for supporters to come to the see our Healthy Lifestyle Co-ordinator or the Health Trainers to discuss their health and also have access to some basic testing.

Along with the testing we will also be providing a Fitness Challenge where adults and children can have a go to win prizes.
