Williams: Performance didn't match score-line

Katie Williams felt the Imps were unfortunate to lose by a six-goal margin in their defeat to table-topping Sporting Khalsa.

City had their chances throughout the 90 minutes but the league leaders were clinical in front of goal to take all three points.

Williams said: “Obviously 7-1 is very disappointing but I do agree that the performance didn’t reflect the score-line.

“We played well for long periods of the game, they’re obviously a team competing at the top of the table and after their first few goals their confidence was up.

“So we could either sit back, which we didn’t want to do, or just go for it. So I’m happy with our performance despite the score-line.”

The midfielder is now keen to move on from the result and focus on their next game which promises to be an exciting one at the LNER Stadium against Peterborough United.

She added: “We didn’t necessarily perform badly, and we are all just excited to play in the stadium.

“It’s an exciting thing to do so we will all just pick ourselves up, train hard and go again next week.”
