City defender, Regan Poole, has said he is eager to build upon Tuesday evening’s impressive win against Derby County as the Imps face Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

The Welshman wore the armband as City kept a clean sheet and added three points to their Sky Bet League One tally in midweek, and he is now looking for another strong performance at the Memorial Stadium.

He said: “The win was needed. It was a really good result to back up a great atmosphere, so it was a top evening for everyone involved in the club.

“The mood within the group is good and everyone is happy. There is no doubt we have had some disappointing results, but they have been and gone and the spirits are high.

“We are on the back of a good performance on Tuesday night, so hopefully we can back that up so things continue on the up and everyone is looking forward.”

Watch the highlights from Tuesday evening's win here:

Poole is one of the longest-serving players in the City squad and has emerged as a senior figure. He said this has helped him become a leader amongst his teammates, enabling him to build strong relationships with a new-look back five this season.

He added: “We are still a new squad and a lot changed in the summer, both on the pitch and behind the scenes.

“We are all still getting to know each other and that takes time, but we are growing and building and ultimately, things are going in the right direction.

“We have played a few matches together now as a settled unit, and despite us still learning and finding out about each other, I’d say we have a good relationship at the moment,” he finished.
