Bishop enjoying right-back role

Ted Bishop is relishing his role as a right-back in the squad and feels that it has given him a new challenge in his career.

Bishop usually plays higher up the pitch but thinks playing a bit deeper to cover for injuries elsewhere in the squad has offered more freedom and a different outlook on the game.

He said: “It’s been a challenge, something I didn’t expect that I’d be doing in my career but I’ve actually really enjoyed it. You get a different view of the game when you’re playing at right-back and sometimes you get more time on the ball.

“At the moment, I don’t really mind where I play. I’ve had so many injuries in the past when I wished to be on the pitch, so now that I am on the pitch I’m not really fussed where I am.”

Bishop says the lads remain in good spirits and are now keen to kick on with the addition of new players in the January window bringing extra impetus.

He added: “The spirit in the group and with the staff has not dropped all season. We know we’re not where we want to be in the table but I think that’s been down to injuries and players being unavailable. The addition of the new lads coming in has given everyone a lift and I think you can see that in the performances.

“We know we shouldn’t have lost that game against Cambridge. We created so many chances to win two or three games so we’ll definitely be looking to put it right, especially after a good win last weekend.”
