The Imps had to settle for a point at Hillsborough despite an impressive performance against Sheffield Wednesday.
Lewis Montsma's headed goal 10 minutes from time ensured City left South Yorkshire with a point, which was the least they deserved after a battling display.
Dennis Adeniran's goal early in the second period gave the Owls some impetus and something to hold onto, but when Montsmas truck with 10 minutes to go it set up a finish where the visitors could easily have gone on to snatch a winner.
