The City boss praised his side for the performances they have put in over the opening months of the Sky Bet League One season.

Lincoln currently sit first in the league table following a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday, Jorge Grant scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

“We have had a good start to the season, it is a start and our form is good, but we are looking forward to working hard in the upcoming fixtures,” explained Michael.

“We have a good structure, we have legs to carry out games and we have athleticism which allows us to play both sides.”

The Imps manager continued by discussing the way his side can adapt to different playing styles throughout games: “We have pace in the team, so we can change the game depending on the way the other team setup.

“We can defend deeper if we need to but we can flip it if we are stood off and allowed to play.

“At the weekend the players put in the hard work and we organised well to stop the opposition from scoring.”

Lincoln have already faced Crewe Alexandra this season with the Imps traveling to Alexandra Stadium in September for Carabao Cup action. City came out as 2-1 winners with Tom Hopper and Lewis Montsma finding the back of the net.

Michael finished by speaking about David Artell’s side who won promotion from Sky Bet League Two at the end of the 2019–20 season.

“They are a good side, they kept a lot of boys from last season’s promotion, they proved last season what type of footballing team they are.

“They play with a freedom and they have players who like to express themselves. We were pleased to get James (Jones) from them over the summer.

“We know about them from earlier in the season and they are a good side.”
