Jorge Grant broke the deadlock at LNER Stadium this evening with a well taken penalty into the bottom left corner. The City midfielder scored his fifth goal of the season on his 50th appearance as an Imp.

Jorge was delighted with the result after the game, explaining how the Imps performed well on home turf: “It was a very good win; they are a good side, but we dealt with their attacking play and handled it well.

“I felt like we were in control, but we can still get better and we will work hard to improve over the season.

“I spoke to the Gaffer earlier in the week about playing in different positions and I am happy to play for the club wherever he wants to put me.”

The midfielder continued by talking through his pre-match preparation, discussing how he checks out opposition goalkeepers’ penalty techniques.

“I am practicing them a lot in training, I pick my spot and make my mind up the day before the game, I’ve not done too badly from the spot this season.

“I watch the other team’s goalkeeper as much as they watch me in the build-up to a game. I am confident in my ability to stick them away and I did that tonight.”

Brennan Johnson stood out for the Imps this evening winning the penalty in the 50th minute before grabbing City’s second 12 minutes later.

Jorge finished by praising the youngster, speaking about Johnson's work rate in tonight's game.

“Brennan is quality, he showed it out there tonight, he worked really hard for us,” explained Grant.

“Before Brennan came to the club, I knew about him from Forest and I told him he would enjoy his time here, he is blossoming, and he works hard, he will learn a lot this season.

“It was a great header from him for our second, he should be pleased with his performance this evening.”
