16 November 2020

The Imps return to LNER Stadium this week for Tuesday night football in the Papa John’s Trophy, facing Man City U21 in their third Northern Group E fixture.

Michael Appleton’s side also picked up points in their first Papa John’s Trophy game this season, with a penalty win over Scunthorpe United at LNER Stadium in September.

Recent Form

Man City’s Elite Development Squad suffered defeat to Southampton in their most recent Premier League 2 fixture with the Saints coming out as 5-2 winners.

However, the Citizens had previously been in good form since their last Papa John’s Trophy game, collecting three Premier League 2 wins in October by beating Arsenal 4-1, Leicester City 4-0 and Everton 2-1.

Enzo Maresca’s side currently sit top of the Northern Group E table following a 4-0 win over Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park. The Sky Blues also kept a clean sheet as they beat Mansfield Town 3-0 with goals from Adrián Bernabé and Liam Delap (brace).
