Imps’ manager Danny Cowley was delighted today to make his first signing of the summer after securing the services of midfielder, Joe Morrell, from Bristol City on a season long loan.

The Welsh under 21 international comes to Sincil Bank after attracting the eye of the City boss after a couple of impressive seasons both on loan in League Two and latterly and with his parent club in the Championship, and the FA Cup as the Robins progressed to the fifth round and Danny says that he will add an extra dimension to the Imps’ options in midfield areas this coming season in League One.

“We are really appreciative to Bristol City for the opportunity to bring Joe in. We’ve got a great relationship with Lee Johnson and we’re thankful to him for allowing Joe to come here on a season long loan.” Danny said.

“Joe’s a player who we know very well from his spell at Cheltenham a couple of seasons ago and then he had a good year in and around the Bristol City first team squad last season, he did very well playing in their run in the FA Cup.

“He's young and is very hungry to succeed and has a real infectious and enthusiastic love for the game. He’s an intelligent player, with wonderful vision and awareness and receives the ball really well, so he adds a real creativity to our group and our play.”
