Following yesterday’s draw against Yeovil Town which secured The Imps’ a spot in the SkyBet League Two playoffs, Danny Cowley was full of pride in his players, the supporters and the groundstaff who he said all played their part in a fantastic occasion for all connected with Lincoln City.

“We don’t always have to play well to win and that’s credit to the desire, commitment and will of the players. When you get so close to achieving what you set out to, things get a lot harder. We managed to get over the line and that success has allowed us create a possibility of more success. We’re winners and we’re used to winning, we’re the only team in the playoffs that’s actually won something this season and that means a lot to us.”

Tom Pett scored the vital equaliser against Yeovil Town which secured The Imps' place in the SkyBet League Two playoffs and the manager said it’s something which doesn’t surprise him as Pett has that in his armoury.

“It was the best moment of quality in the game, I’m really pleased for Tom, it’s difficult to move into a new group of players half way through the season and relocate to a new City but we’ve really seen in the last two weeks how good a player he is.  He’s technically excellent and has got good feet; he showed a moment of calmness in a crazy game. It was a great finish.”

With a season high of over 10,000 supporters packed into Sincil Bank, Danny Cowley was full of appreciation for the backing of the fans who continue to play a huge part in City’s success.

“The fans play such a part and they stuck with us, they saw how edgy we were but didn’t get on the players backs and the noise was relentless all the way through.”

The focus may have been on the players on Saturday but the management team at Sincil Bank reserved the final praise for the work of the ground staff whose diligent work aided the final playoff push.

“But finally Nicky and I have to put on record our thanks to the ground staff for all their hard work on the pitch over this last week, their efforts recently are well beyond the call of duty. They keep the current training pitches ticking over on top of working hard on the new performance centre developments and their commitment to the club really came to the fore. It certainly helped us get over the line on Saturday. The team of groundstaff really pulled out all the stops to get one of the best end of season surfaces in League Two which is a credit to them all.”
