Imps' fans are being invited to relive two memorable years in a special exhibition taking place at The Collection museum.
‘The Journey - a Celebration of Lincoln City FC 2016-18’ runs from Saturday 23 June until Sunday 22 July and charts the Imps’ two historic seasons under the Cowley brothers’ leadership, with fans being given the opportunity to get up close to the coveted Checkatrade Trophy!
Cllr Nick Worth, Executive Member for Culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This is a must-see exhibition for any Lincoln City fan, charting the club’s journey between 2016 and 2018. Following the success of the club and the feel-good factor embraced by the city of Lincoln, we wanted to celebrate this in a special way.
“Not only will we have the Checkatrade Trophy with us for the first two weeks of the exhibition, but the club has kindly lent us other items from the historic Wembley final to put on display.
“There will also be a special space for fans to share their memories of the past two seasons in what has been an exciting time to be an Imp.”
Ian McCallum, Business Operations Manager for Lincoln City FC, added: “Everyone from the players to the staff behind the scenes at the football club are extremely honoured to have such an exhibition charting the team’s success over the last two seasons.
“For our achievements to be featured alongside some very special historical artefacts at The Collection is humbling for the club and acts as a reminder how incredible things have been, but our aspirations are such that we hope this is just the beginning.
“But there’s no doubt it’s been an historic time for the club and the city and this exhibition gives all visitors to The Collection a fantastic opportunity to relive some special memories. It’s something that not only fans of the club and people from the community of Lincoln can enjoy, but also, we hope, the many visitors to the city who will come through the doors of The Collection over the coming month will appreciate too.”
The exhibition will also feature a number of photographs chronicling the club’s journey over the past two years as they became the first non-league side in 103 years to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, were crowned National League Champions and had their first ever appearance at Wembley in their 134-year history.
