Ryan Allsop’s impressive display between the sticks earned him the Twitter Man of the Match award during Tuesday night’s draw with Wycombe Wanderers.
Despite the Imps not managing to find the back of the net on the night, Allsop kept his sixth clean sheet since his deadline-day arrival at Sincil Bank.
Allsop praised his teammates’ first half performance before going on to look at Saturday’s match against Colchester.
“In the first half we were well on top and we had a few chances ourselves,” He said in the post-match Press.
“It was clear that they had come here to sit back and play for the point or even try and nick it.
“Ultimately, we needed to do a bit more ourselves and needed some more intensity in the second half. That’s something we will look to rectify at the weekend.”
The on-loan goalkeeper pulled off a number of fine saves throughout the game, including one off Scott Wharton, which would have resulted in an own goal for the Imps defender.
“It’s nice to be able to make them saves and he had a little joke with me after saying how I helped him out but that is what I’m there to do.” Allsop said.
“He’s hit it with some pace and luckily, I’ve managed to stick a knee out and it hasn’t landed to one of them in the box so we have cleared our lines from there.
“I think that’s one of the busiest I’ve been and we didn’t hit the standards expected from us tonight. They’re a decent team and they are effective with what they do.”
The Imps host Colchester United this weekend in the penultimate home game of the season, and Allsop is only in search of one outcome.
“It’s going to be a massive game, we will look to get the three points on Saturday which will make the point against Wycombe a massive one.”
