Housing For Academy Apprentices

26 April 2014

Sponsored by

Lincoln City Football Club’s Youth Academy is seeking to source suitable family accommodation for a small number of its 16-17 year old apprentices in the local area for the 2014/15 football season.

Potential applicants must be able to provide good quality accommodation in an area which provides easy or affordable access to The Gelder Group Sincil Bank Stadium. It is essential that the lodgings provide a safe base for the scholars to live under the guardianship of an adult.

Residential accommodation must be provided throughout the football season and high quality nutritional breakfast and evening meals must also be provided, although this is unlikely to be every night of the week as the players do return home most weekends. The players begin training at the start of July and will require accommodation until the season ends the following April.

Lincoln City Football Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all accommodation providers to share this commitment. This role involves working with young people and is subject to Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.  The Football Club will pay for these CRB checks.

These roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and any applicant must disclose all previous convictions including spent convictions. Two written references will also be required. Applicants will, in addition, need to demonstrate that the accommodation meets certain safety standards.

On successful completion of all the necessary checks, a tenancy agreement would then be drawn up as a private agreement between the landlord and the family of the Football Club's apprentice. You can seek advice on tenancy agreements by contacting City of Lincoln Council's Housing Department. It is also a requirement that the boys are housed within an environment where a responsible adult also lives.

If you believe you are the kind of person or family who can work with the club in providing such an environment and you are interested in discussing this opportunity further please email Youth Academy Director Roger Bates at roger.bates@redimps.com.
