The pre-season campaign got off to an encouraging start on Saturday with the Imps recording a 7-1 win over their city neighbours Lincoln United.

Danny Rowe got things moving in the fourth minute when he finished clinically from Jake Sheridan's squared pass but with temperatures very much on the high side, the opening period saw both teams cancel each other out with clear-cut chances at a premium.

A knock to Todd Jordan, who was operating in the centre of defence in the first half, saw Luke Foster get an hour's run out but it was fellow trialist Bohan Dixon who stole the headlines with an impressive showing in the second half.

The tall attacking midfielder was thrust into the action up front before the hour mark, and with Alan Power and Adi Yussuf extending City's lead in the space of two minutes beforehand, Dixon was quick to bag a brace with a couple of neat finishes.

After United pulled a goal back, it was left to Rowe to cap an impressive performance with the number nine producing a couple of excellent finishes from range to complete his hat-trick.

City: Farman, Sheridan, Newton, Boyce (King), Jordan (Foster), Nolan, Power, Fofana, Yussuf (Dixon), Wright (Robinson), Rowe.
