The first home friendly of the summer took place on Wednesday evening with Sunderland U21s the visitors to Sincil Bank Stadium.
The game finished 2-0 to Sunderland's development squad, who included Phil Bardsley in their starting line-up, with goals in either half securing the pre-season outcome.
New signing Ben Tomlinson was given a second half run out following his move from Alfreton Town on Tuesday but the injured Nat Brown, Tom Miller and Todd Jordan were once again forced to watch from the sidelines.
