Boardroom Blog #5

25 July 2012

Although club finances remain high on the Board’s priority list in this blog we turn the focus on other developments at the Club.

The Board recently said farewell to Gold Member Director Jean Foster.  Jean has represented the Supporters Trust Gold members on the Board for many years and has also contributed more widely to the management of the football club.  We thank Jean for all her efforts and wish her well for the future.  We also look forward to seeing her regularly as she continues to support the Imps. In her place is a familiar face to many supporters.  We are pleased Fran Martin decided to stand for election as the Gold Member Director.  Fran’s knowledge of, and passion for, the football club mean she will be a valuable member of our Board.

In a previous blog we talked about the work being done in the dressing room area and the T&R Lounge.  This work is now nearing completion. The catalyst for the work in and around the dressing rooms was the need to find a permanent home for the gym equipment that had previously been at the training ground.  The existing gym was too small so the floor plan of the building was reviewed and it was decided that with relatively little hard cost we could create a larger gym, more than double the size of the home dressing room and expand the previous small physios room. Much of the material and labour for the project has been supplied free of charge by local business and the Board is very grateful to them for their valuable support. In addition LCFC staff have also committed many hours of work to the project and as you will see from the picture shown in this feature, we are sure the players will find a significant improvement on the previous, out-dated facilities.

The Board felt that the T&R and Starglaze Lounges were in need of a substantial refit to change the look and feel of the rooms.  Out have gone the hard flooring and plain tables and chairs to be replaced by a range of sofas, casual seating areas, carpets and soft furnishings.  Hot food will also be available pre-match.  We will also be creating a new offer called the VIP Club. We recognised that membership of the Executive Club had fallen to unsustainable levels and the pricing of the package did not reflect its value.  We believe that the new surroundings and extensive membership packages will be attractive to both individual supporters and local businesses who wish to enjoy a new pre-match experience.  For more information please contact Sales Executive Russell Moore via the club office.

In the last blog we launched the Target Ten Twentyone challenge to see if season ticket sales (and the equivalent sales of CityFLEXIPack) could exceed last season’s total of 1,020.  The total currently stands at 840.  Thank you for your continued support.  Season tickets and CityFLEXIPacks still offer the best value way of watching the Imps this season.  Please consider purchasing one or the other.  CityFLEXIPack tickets are available during July only.

Don’t forget that if you have already bought your 2012/13 season ticket you can get a £20 cashback for every person who buys a season ticket showing you as being the person who introduced them.

With just days to go before the midday Friday close of the Name our Stadium prize draw we have passed the £17,500 mark.  This is a fantastic achievement: thank you.  If you, or somebody you know, is still thinking of entering the draw please give us your support: it really will make a very significant difference as we come to terms with the additional loss of £225,000 central funding for the coming season.

A Directors’ Forum will take place on 2nd August and more details will be announced shortly.  If supporters wish to submit questions ahead of the forum these can be emailed to CEO Steve Prescott (steve.prescott@redimps.com).

If you are planning to be at the Community Day this Saturday and you see any of the directors around the ground please come up and say hello.  We are all happy to talk about Lincoln City all day long!
