Manager David Holdsworth, writing in his programme notes for the Kidderminster Harriers match on Saturday, highlights the importance of a close working relationship with the youth department.

"I’m very grateful for all of those people who have worked extremely hard behind the scenes this summer; the ground staff, the administration staff, the commercial staff and the Board of Directors have been open and frank but likewise our goal in mind is to bring the Club closer together. This also involves bringing our youth team closer to the first team structure," writes the City boss ahead of the 2012/13 season opener.

"Grant Brown, assisted by Chris Moyses who I would like to extend a warm welcome to as a Board member, will work closely with myself and bring the youth team players closer to our focus as in years gone by this has been widened by various managers.

"I see it as a huge part of the Football Club and I hope that you will recognise that we’re trying to bring the youth team players through.

"Throughout the summer Grant and myself have worked closely together in terms of where we feel we can focus on the next generation of players at our football club and I believe that we have a very healthy youth system in place."

The success of the youth department will be highlighted on Saturday when Conner Robinson signs his professional contract.

Robinson was scheduled to sign in front of the fans last Saturday but the cancellation of the Leicester City friendly means that the 17-year-old was forced to wait until putting pen-to-paper. He will do so at around 2.35pm in the build-up to kick-off.

You can read more from David Holdsworth, meanwhile, in the Kidderminster Harriers match programme, on sale around The 12th Imp Sincil Bank Stadium on Saturday, price just £2.50.
