Danny & Nicky Cowley
Brothers Danny and Nicky Cowley were unveiled as the Club's new management team on Friday 13 May 2016 having led Braintree Town to a third-place finish in the Vanarama National League only to miss out on a place in the Promotion Final at Wembley Stadium after losing to Grimsby Town in the semi-final.
Danny cut his managerial teeth alongside Danny Scopes at Concord Rangers in 2007, leading the Essex outfit to the Essex Senior League title and promotion to the Ryman League Division 1 North plus a place in the last eight of the FA Vase. During their eight-year spell with Rangers, the Cowley brothers won three promotions with the club, whilst also taking the club to the first-round proper of the FA Cup as well as narrowly missing out on a play-off spot in their final season at the club.
The pair departed Concord for Braintree Town at the end of the 2014/15 season where they continued their impressive record, leading the part-timers to a superb top three finish making them amongst the most sought-after young management team in the game.
Both Danny and Nicky joined Lincoln City on a full-time basis having previously combined their football management with jobs as Physical Education teachers at Fitzwimarc School in Rayleigh.
In their first season of full-time management, the Cowleys secured a return to the EFL for the Imps as they secured the National League title with a 2-1 win over Macclesfield Town in April. The brothers also guided the Imps to the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup having completed the scalps of Oldham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Premier League side Burnley, before the run came to an end at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.
The Cowleys experienced further cup success with a Wembley win in the EFL Checkatrade Trophy in 2018. Elliott Whitehouse scored the winner as the Imps beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 on their first ever visit to Wembley Stadium before ending the season finishing 7th place in SkyBet League Two gaining a place in the end of season playoffs.
For the third consecutive year, the Cowley brothers guided the Imps to silverware after winning the SkyBet League Two title for the first time since 1976. The Imps finished the season with 85 points to their name, comfortably winning the league by six points.
During the 2018/19 campaign, the pair took City on an unbeaten run of 19 games beating the previous record set by Colin Murphy's side over the 1979/80 and 1980/81 seasons where the Imps went 18 games unbeaten.
The Imps had matched the previous unbeaten record in their 2-0 win away to MK Dons where a record away following of 5,556 city fans witnessed Lincoln pick up a vital set of three points.
