Hakeeb Adelakun joined the Imps on a free transfer following his release from Bristol City in Summer 2021.
The attacking midfielder started his career with Crystal Palace and West Ham United before signing a professional deal with Scunthorpe United in 2012. At the age of 16 years and 201 days, Hakeeb became the Iron’s youngest player after coming on as a substitute against Tranmere Rovers in December 2012.
Following a six-year spell with Scunthorpe, Adelakun was rewarded with a move to Championship side Bristol City in July 2018. He made five appearances in England’s second tier before being loaned out to Rotherham United for the 2019/20 season.
During the 2020/21 campaign, Hakeeb contributed to Hull City’s promotion from Sky Bet League One, making 14 appearances and scoring three goals during his loan spell with the club. After being recalled to Bristol City in January 2021, the winger made a further two Championship appearances for the Robins.
