He started his career with Middlesbrough where he spent five years as a professional. During his time at the Riverside Stadium, Adam gained experience with FC Halifax Town, Coventry City and Hartlepool United on loan, accumulating over 30 league appearances with the three sides.

Jackson signed a three-year deal with Championship side Barnsley in August 2016. At the end of his time with Oakwell, the defender moved North of the border agreeing terms with Hibernian.

After just over a year with the Scottish outfit, Jackson arrived at the Imps and was assigned the No. 5 shirt.

The Darlington-born defender made a total of 34 appearances in his first season at City.
